Create a Test Customer

This guide will assist you in creating a sample customer to test your pricing configurations and familiarize yourself with the customer experience on the Boardera platform.

Once you’ve done some pricing configuration, it’s time to get a feel for your customer’s experience and set up a sample user to test your pricing in more detail. Below is a step-by-step guide on how to create a test user in the Boardera platform.

In this document:

Step 1: Create a test user

  • Log out of your manufacturer account by clicking on the profile icon in the nav bar and selecting “Log Out”

  • Once logged out, click “Sign up,” underneath the LOG IN button.

  • Register your test user by appending a “+1” to your email before the @ symbol. Example: rgiacomin+1@boardera.ca

Don’t worry, this will send emails to your existing inbox.

  • Next, click the Sign Up button

  • Open your email inbox of the primary email you used (in this example, rgiacomin@boardera.ca). The verification email for your test user should be in that inbox.

    • If that email doesn’t appear, check your junk or spam folder!

  • Verify your test user email by clicking on the “Verify” button. This will log you in as your test user.

    • You’ll know that you’re logged in as your test user because you’ll have a “My Projects” dashboard, as seen on the below screenshot.

You must verify your email before you can login.

Step 2: Upload a project

  • Once logged in, click “New Project” from your “My Projects” dashboard

  • Next, upload a project using the Drag and Drop feature, or click and select your chosen project to upload it.

    • Ideally, find a project that’s familiar to you. We recommend choosing a project you’ve won in the past so that you’re familiar with its pricing.

    • If you do not have a project handy, download the pre-loaded sample project once logged in from your “My Projects” dashboard..

    • If you have an issue with the upload, check out our Project Guidelines

  • Continue through the workflow and complete whichever steps you’re guided through (this will depend on if you are bareboard only, assembly only, or both). Possible steps include the following: confirm Layer Assignment, specify Board Options, upload your BOM and solve Part Sourcing issues, and Part Placement.

Step 3: Log in as a Manufacturer

Now it’s time to see what you’ll see from the manufacturer's side.

  • Log out of your test user account

  • Log in with your manufacturer account

  • To view your test user’s projects, go to the “Customers” tab in the nav bar

  • Find your test user

  • Click “View User’s Projects.” This will take you to your test user’s dashboard.

  • You can now view your test user’s project using your Manufacturer account.

    • This is called “Support Mode.” Any changes you make to your customer’s projects will be seen by your customer. It is very handy in helping them define their requirements and set appropriate expectations.
